ABOUT

Hi there, my name is Bridget Michelle (but you can call me Bee) and I'm so pleased you’re here.
I'm a 26 year old self taught foodie, based in Wellington New Zealand, with a passion for creating a delicious, welcoming and honest table.

I believe there is something truly special about sitting down to share our lives over a plate. My heart for making good food stems from a deep rooted love of the simple act of preparing, cooking, and sharing a meal together.

I like to keep things real, using everyday ingredients in a humble way. I am a firm advocate for substituting ingredients to fit what you have on hand, and believe that you ought not be too fussy with measurements.

Many of the recipes you will find here were originally created for friends and family who have dietary requirements. I found many of them struggling with limitation, which in effect made food joyless and isolating. I was outraged to hear how this made shared meal times so difficult  – so a new enthusiasm for experimenting with alternative ingredients came about, and has stuck with me.

So friend, let’s have some fun in the kitchen and pack some joy back into each meal, so that everybody truly feels welcome at our tables.

* For anyone who cares, the blog title comes from the opening song of my favourite movie 'The Parent Trap' (the 1961 version). If you listened to the whole thing and loved it we can be chums for life.
